One To Watch :: Steve Huerta

Steve has been producing countless house classics for 3 years. He has had releases on sort after labels such as Miami's petFood, the Berlin based Dirt Crew Recordings, and LA's Culprit just to name a few. We are such admirers of Steve's work, he combines smooth vocals with classy beats to create such clean cut original sounds. 2013 has been a big year for Steve, with the release of 'Things I Didn't Mean' (featuring Los Angeles compadre, Urulu) reaching #7 in the Deep House Beatport charts and then more recently reaching #55 in Resident Advisor's Top Tracks of 2013! Before that his two releases “Take Me Closer” and “Can’t Let Go” were supported by heavy hitters like Catz n’ Dogz, Sinden, Droog, Homework, KRL, Broke One, and Waze & Odyssey, among others.

We got in touch with Steve Huerta (just say that name aloud; destined to make it big):

Whats next for you in the near future?

"My next release will be a 2-track EP for Manucci's Mistress, coming the first week of December. I've also got another Amadeus Records release scheduled for the beginning of 2014, as well as an EP for London-based Newington Records."

"In terms of life events, I will be relocating to Berlin in about a week. My move happens to coincide with a Dirt Crew showcase happening at Ritterbutske on November 29th. So I'm quite excited to play that."

What's the next big thing for you?

"The biggest thing ahead is talks of a full length album. Urulu and I will be hard at work on tons of new music which will hopefully manifest itself in the form of a LP way later in 2014. Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but we work on music together all the time, and it seems like a sensible next move."

Where you would like to be in 5 years time?

"Well, seeing that I just moved out to Europe from the states, I'm quite excited about living here for a while. hmm...5 years... that seems like a long ways away. I guess i just really hope my career moves along in a steady incline, and that my music can be taken to the next level in terms of creativity and thoughtfulness. Ideally, i would like to have a killer studio with all kinds of instruments and machines. Of course, i would also love to be playing many of the great festivals Europe has to offer, and touring anywhere and everywhere!"
